The site design for this state-of-the art, LEED Gold rated facility was chosen to take advantage of views to Beaufort Inlet and the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve. The site is part of the Duke Marine Labs campus on Piver's Island. We employed environmentally sustainable design and construction principles, including the use of native plant materials, creation of a natural dune, and passive solar.
