North Carolina Freedom Monument

This community-based effort, currently in fundraising, commissioned a public artwork in downtown Raleigh to honor the African-American experience in North Carolina. The team of David Swanson, artist Juan Logan and historian Lyneise Williams was selected for the site and master plan. The team's design allows the natural grove-like setting to play a dynamic role in experiencing the myriad sculptural elements of the monument.
